To Capture an Architectural Masterpiece

3D Tours News

There is not much that can be said about this architectural masterpiece, that a 3D tour doesn’t already capture.

Explore it here

Situated in the trendy suburb of Camps Bay, Cape Town, this house has Table Mountain as its back garden, undisturbed 180-degree views of the ocean from its front, and Lion’s Head as its neighbour. This is definitely a location worth boasting about.

The owner’s brief to the architect, Haydn Ellis of Ellis Associates Architects to was to build a house that made these world-famous sights an integral part of the design. The result is a breath-taking view from every space in the house.

This house is a masterpiece because it blends with its surroundings. Built and furnished in a style that is elegant, uses clean lines and harnesses natural tones, the space centres around the landscape and with its many windows and glass doors, you have the comfort of being indoors while still appreciating the views of the outdoors.

This elegance still allows for many comfort features, including a full security system, a lift to all three floors, and a speaker system, WIFI and aircon throughout the house. Finished off with custom-designed furniture and art pieces, moving from one room to another becomes a seamless transition.

The brief to 3D Tours was to capture this architectural masterpiece in the full context of its breath-taking surroundings. Wanting to make this house available for short-term and holiday rentals, the owner wished to differentiate this property from the rest of the high-end market. And, after spending three years on building the house, he wanted to showcase all the detail and thought that went into creating a luxury space that still offers comfort, style, location and priceless beauty.

Our challenge lay in the very features that make this space so enticing. The light that floods in made the space too bright to capture in the mornings and afternoons, the shadow cast by the mountain would offer too much contrast at certain times of the day, and the outside 360-degree shots were best at dawn and dusk. This all provided limited time in which to capture the intricacies of this house.
But, over two days and 200 scans later, we were able to put together a 3D Tour that captures the beauty, elegance and ideal surrounds of this Camps Bay masterpiece.

Come explore a 3D tour of this house with its 5 double bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, 3 lounges and entertainment area, so that you too can appreciate its views (even from the toilet!) and get a feel for what it would be like if you were really there.
